The purpose of Duolingo was to teach people a foreign language through instructional lessons paired with interactive exercises. Since its release on the app stores, the app has attracted over 50 million users within the first two years of operation. As of now, it is one of the most popular language-learning apps worldwide.

Duolingo’s goal is to help people learn while they play by using exercises that are interactive and fun. The app uses games that test users’ knowledge of grammar, conversation, vocabulary and writing skills. The exercises are designed to be hard enough to challenge each level but still easy enough for anyone to play. A major focus of each challenge is the development of four vital language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The main reason why language challenges are considered interesting is because they reuse content in different ways to help users understand both their head and heart. Each challenge has a similar structure to an actual foreign language school with multiple levels. Each of these levels has its own set of smaller subcategories. These subcategories are easier to memorize and recall thanks to the topics they are based on such as Animals, Colors, Family, Hats, Locations, Nouns, Numbers and adjectives. There are also diplomas in Food and Present as well as Advances in Adjectives, Directions and Plurals. As indicated above, users of Duolingo must consider their language skill’s integration when completing each round. They must also successfully complete each of the following four requirements in a single sequence: correct spelling, grammar, listening through the reading and intonation/proper pronunciation. Many specialists claim Duolingo’s voice recognition function is standard. The app records your reading and flags any grammatical errors. You correct any misused words or phrases and attempt the exercise again if you exceed the challenge's parameters. Daily learning sessions built around short, fun exercises are incredibly addictive. Each day, users are riveted by the next exciting task they must complete in their learning journey. In addition to collecting badges and points, these learning experiences provide a release from everyday stress. Learning English is made more difficult and challenging thanks to the computer storing certificates for hard tests. Additionally, each test has a set time limit that increases difficulty.
